At morethananeditor.com we have been providing coaching and advanced editing since 2006 and for doctoral candidates and post-docs since 2010 and we work only for you. We have no institutional contracts and are not affiliated with any institution … nor will we be. Our sole concern is your success, founded on working one-to-one with you, concrete answers, and rooted in timely, top-quality work.

About Us

Our original services were rooted in the experience of our founder from the time he was teaching at a global top 25 university (the University of Toronto). The need to support students who had academic and often scholarly English writing challenges (many with English as their second language) was where our original expertise was developed. After our first four years, having worked with many undergraduate and MBA candidates, we moved our primary focus to doctoral candidates in 2010. For our very first doctoral clients we were contracted to provide research and editing services. We quickly experienced the confusion, uncertainty, and anxiety, that our early doctoral clients were experiencing with the doctoral thesis proposal and writing process in online university environments. As a result, we developed expertise in the specific requirements for thesis development in these online environments in addition to bricks and mortar contexts working with both candidates and their Chairs.

What We Do Today

Since we started working with doctoral candidates and, latterly post-docs, we severed all affiliations with any university or other institution. Your privacy is safe with us. If there are problems with your drafts that could provide embarrassment (e.g., plagiarism), we only tell you – no one else - and we help you to fix those problems. We have a long track record; our only client is you and our only goal is your success, whether to help you or . The first consultation call with us is free and you can find out if you have good 'fit' with us on that call. Fit with your coaching sherpa and editor are extremely important.

To ensure your success we assign you a permanent Sherpa and your Sherpa works with you throughout your time with us – that person is your personal PhD Sherpa and liaison. They will familiarize themselves with your topic and research questions and gets to know you, your needs, and goals while taking full, 100% responsibility for ensuring our work, is timely and meets all goals. Note, we do not provide generalities or vague answers. Our answers to you are always concrete and actionable. A further benefit of your own Sherpa? It also means you have a sounding board who understands what you are trying to accomplish with your research. Finally? Your privacy is safe with us.
