Grant Editing and Writing
We do grant work, and at senior levels. The largest grant application we have edited to date, in 2026, was for ten million Euros — roughly thirteen million US dollars. Professors we have worked for have recently begun asking us to write proposals rather than edit them.
What we have not done. Let us be clear.
We have never written a grant application ab initio — from nothing, as the primary author, start to finish.
Editing a strong application written by an experienced researcher is not the same job — and anybody who tells you otherwise is selling you something.
So we do not offer grant writing as a billable service. We are not going to charge you to learn on your application.

An offer, and it is a straightforward one
We would like to do one from scratch. Free.
Small to medium scale, one application, start to finish, at no charge and with no conditions attached to the outcome. You pay nothing whether it is funded or not.
What we ask in return: a named reference we can give to others, permission to say we did the work, and your honest assessment of it — including if it was not good enough.
That is the whole of it.
Why we are not asking for a percentage. It is a fair question, because contingency arrangements exist in this field. They are also prohibited by the Grant Professionals Association and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Most federal agencies and major foundations will not permit grant-writing costs on a contingency basis, and some require you to certify that none were paid. We are not going to hand you a compliance problem in exchange for our own training.
Who this suits
...everybody wants a percentage and I do not know if that is normal...
Somebody who needs a serious application written and cannot easily fund the writing of it. Small research groups, a department without development support, a principal investigator doing everything themselves, an organization making a first attempt at a funder it has never approached.
What you get: experienced academic writers who have edited applications at this scale, working on yours, at no cost.
The same standard we apply to a dissertation — structural discipline, defensible claims, and prose a reviewer can follow at speed.
What you should know: it will be our first as primary author. We think our editing record makes the risk a reasonable one to take, and we would rather you weighed that with the facts in front of you than discovered it afterwards.
And one practical limit. Paying clients take precedence in our work schedule. If your deadline is short, this offer may not be of any use to you — say so at the outset and we will tell you straight away whether it is workable.
If this is of interest, tell us about the application. If the fit is wrong we will say so quickly.
